Did you go? Went to the “rock” one and saw some amazing clips. Watching music clips in a cinema as an interesting experience. In film we’ve been taught to focus on the visual rather than the sound (which, while an amazing narrative tool rarely determines the image) – so what happens when this flips around and the visuals have been determined by the music?
Well, we all know that clips are short, often erratic and with little narrative flow, so while visually exciting can be a little bit straining what with all that movement and colour. The other thing is that I’m use to seeing all these things on the small screen, and I’m use to really listening to the song while keeping a lazy eye on the telly. Well that’s not how we’re trained in cinemas, so I went into film mode…and some things that were just amazing on the small screen don’t work as well on the big.
Still, its an interesting idea – keep em coming Resfest!
Ps. Can beatmix two different tracks…
